Business Process Re-engineering (BPR) is also referred as Business Process Change Management or Business Process Redesign which depicts the understanding of processes involved in any company. It represents the design & analysis of the work flow and methods within a firm. According to the Davenport (1990), “A business is a set of judiciously associated tasks which are accomplished to acquire a defined business outcome”. Re-engineering is the foundation for the growth of management for numerous current affairs.

BPR aims to enhance business by increasing effectiveness and efficiency of the processes which is incorporated within the business. It plays a vital role in business and is considered the secret of a successful business. The methods for conducting business can be revised and improved by determining how a business can best construct their processes of management.

BPR has evolved as a practicable application for accomplishing lean structures and has numbers of importance. It is an organizational process which is necessary to co-ordinate processes, people & technology along with strategies in order to attain business integration. A Business can be judged from its current state through which operational & organizational blueprint can be formed. This in terms, help to modify the skill policies, cultural values, organizational skills, information data & processing as well as incentives towards constituting aimed amendments to the business.

According to the Davenport (ibid.), a business must not seek fractional levels of improvements but instead should focus towards multiple levels of improvements. It would be beneficial for the company if it focuses more on 10 times profit rather than focusing on 10% profit.

BPR directs a company towards betterment as it improves the efficiency and reduces the cost of operation. Besides this, it also helps to align IT strategy which would join hands with business strategy and uplift it. Basically, BPR is the appropriate method to be implemented in any business which helps a business grow. This facility is also provided by a business process outsourcing company which again adds up a better feasibility of the business.

There are records which prove that BPR improves efficiency of the business. Though some of the reputed companies were in the league of financial drawbacks & had bad debts clinging on their head, yet were able to get back on track through BPR. If BPR is implemented wisely in any company, it can generate high returns.
